Silica Formulated Tread CompoundThe asymmetric design allows for tread pattern tuning. The large outside shoulder and intermediate tread elements increase handling,stability control and ultimate cornering ability. The offset shoulder-to-intermediate grooves and large intermediate tread elements are joined together for stable cornering and noise reduction.
Dual Pitch Sequence ElementsLaterally oriented shoulder grooves, uniform element geometry and chamfered edges resist irregular or rapid tread wear. The continuous, solid rib on the outside of the center row of tread elements increases steering response. The inboard tread pattern is optimized for wet and light snow conditions. Two wide circumferential grooves channel water away from the tire for hydroplane resistance.Even wear is achieved by the laterally oriented shoulder grooves and uniform elements.Winter traction performance is aided by the technical sweeping elliptical groove.

From the day these tires were put on my car I have experienced an outstanding drive and better control in dry and wet conditions. I haven't had the chance to drive in the snow yet since it is still summer but if it handles as well as it does in wet and puddle covered roads then I have no doubt that it will be great in the snow as well. I've had these tires less than a month. They're downright scary. I've found that they break away in turns way too easily, and lose traction under hard acceleration at highway speeds. I won't be buying another pair. I bought these due to Consumer Reports' review... never again! (view review details)
